Are you sold the fairness products by sales assistants? {Your Opinion}

When I went to watch Heroine, I also went to check out products at the H2O+ counter at Shopper's Stop just like that to get some samples :D I did get samples but the guy was repeatedly selling me the whitening range of their products!!! I told him that I do not need any whitening products but still he continued with that. Its not the first time I had this kind of an encounter. Female assistants are even worse, in my opinion. 

If they see any person with darker skin tone, they simply start selling the whitening products!!! To give credit to the guy I mentioned above, he did try to sell me the brightening products later on! Anyways, I have often noted that this is a trend everywhere. And, I don't think its fault of the SA's but the society on the whole as Indians are really and I mean REALLY obsessed with white skin. 

I wanna clear a small misconception that many people have. Even many of the South Indians are in fact very fair and have flawless complexion, may be not as much as Kashmiris but definitely fair in a creamy complexion kind of a way. So, yes, those people are really proud of their complexion and often look for people with the same complexion. I have often noticed that North Indians often think that all Southies are dark but that's not true at all. I'll elaborate more on this theme later :) 

Anyways, you tell me - do you get irritated by these whitening products unnecessarily thrusted upon you or you like to buy the fairness products?

This is not a post on fairness or to berate people who preach such things. The post today is about our responsibility to make things better and not fall victims to the same age-old practices which we have criticized before becoming a prey to it.

In my own family, I have seen countless women suffering from inferiority complex because either their mother, sister or, worse still, mother-in-law is fairer than them. I know this sounds a little extreme but these are small nuances which have great effect on relationships as well in the later life! There is nothing called fairness. We all have a pre-defined skin tones and we can never change them. 

Take me for example, my mother is extremely fair where as my father is the opposite end of the pole. There is a lot of age difference in my mom and dad and thanks to her genes, my mother looks younger than her age and has very little gray hair even though she is 52 now. Where as, my father started greying post 45 which is, I guess, a decent age. And, I did not favor either of them in the skin tone. I am a middle with a darker wheatish skin tone. So, I was ridiculed on one hand for being too dark and for being fair enough on another :D

Honestly, either of it did not change much for me. I learned that pretty early in life and have been comfortable in my own skin. I think it has a lot to do with how your parents treat you as well. For example, I know of a lady who had commented on her second child being darker than her first born! Well, this comment stayed with the second lady for life long and it does manifest in quite a lot of her activities! 

In fact, I would love to quote a dialog from Pretty Woman which fits aptly in this context, "Well, thanks, but it's easy to clean up when you got money". It is so true coz when you can buy whole lotta stuff, you do become fairer overnight. Ever noticed that with our film stars?

Well, the first thing I thought on looking at this product was is this another variation of Lactocalamine! Its that similar but of course this one is supposed to be used only when you are going out in sun because it has sunscreen filters besides having skin illuminating minerals and what not!

does control oiliness if applied in lesser amount

It sure has tall claims but whether it stands up to them or not is a different matter altogether. I tried using it over the sunscreen on my arms while going out. Now, it does help curb the oiliness to an extent but it also creates white patches if you tend to apply the product in even a bit of excess.

The product is a bit tinted so it has to be used judicially. But, I have not used it on my face! Also, I do not really think I saw any extra fairness or even lightening of my tanned hands in this past month. So, overall, I would not really recommend the product!

How do you perceive people with fairness products in their hands? {Your Opinion}

Hey Everyone! Welcome to a brand new week :) And, I am trying to stay a little regular this week. So, lets raise a toast for that!

Anyways, I ran out of my face wash and since I was too lazy to go to the supermarket, I just went to the general store downstairs in the complex and bought the one face wash they had!

And, guess what, it was Pond's White Beauty Facial Foam. I bought it because it has no SLS. But, I did not take any poly bag to carry the items being eco-conscious :)

Now, when I was walking back, it struck me suddenly that what would people think of me seeing the White Beauty face wash in my hands. Not that I am too bothered about what others think but it sounded interesting to read about how you perceive such people!

I think its a very natural thing that if we find fairness products in someone's hands, we automatically check out their complexion and judge whether they really need those products or not! And, if they are even a bit darker, we do think they are interested in getting fair!

But, what would you think about a lady or girl carrying such products? Do you judge them? Or, try to check out their complexion and whether they really need fairness products? Or, do you just ignore it thinking it must have been the only product available in the shop they had to pick up!
