The First Night

 photo DSC_0553_zpsb9c1799d.jpg

So, yup, I am gonna give you all the juicy details of the night. Make sure parental discretion is ascertained and you are above 18 years of age. As I mentioned in some earlier post, the pandits find some muhurtam/muhurat for this as well. Trust me, its pretty embarrassing.

There is a small pooja and the married couples come and bless us. No unmarried people are allowed near the vicinity. Then, we leave for the hotel. The entire process was itself so funny. And, you should check out the decoration of the room. It was so filmy or tv serial type :D I saw those swans in Bade Ache Lagte Hain. Btw, they do give complimentary cake!! Yummy :)

Ok, when your parents and in laws drop you into the honeymoon suite, its pretty weird and that was how it was for both of us. But, let bygones be that. We ordered for dinner and proceeded to the balcony for a candle light ambiance. And, then.....I fell!!! Huh...did you think I will ruin you children?

There was almost a feet of step in the balcony and I did not see and rushed out to the railing and it was all pretty dark outside and then dhadam. And, I was frozen. It was raining outside and I could not move. Somehow my hubby got me inside and I was shivering all the while and my ankle looked like an elephant. Nah, the night was not over there and then! I very humbly said we will not disturb and trouble our parents. And, then, I wake up at 3 at night with a horrible pain and then my guy does the perfect patnivrata pati role.

Can first night get more adventurous than that? :D And, since then I have been limping all around carelessly. Poor hubby got frightened looking at my dad's expressions :D My dad looked like I leave my daughter with you for one night and she ends up with a huge swollen ankle! What will you do later? But, gosh, had it not been so painful, the situation was pretty hilarious.

Hiya, I am back!!

Ok, I was back on Saturday itself but a long unwinding on Sunday and back to work from Monday is really taking a toll on me!! Anyways, I have lots of juicy gossip and a special one to start the entire wedding story with.

How was it you would ask? Well, there were lots of smiles and cries and few frowns, all in one. But, all in all, everything went well. Yes, I am trying to settle down right now so there are a few hiccups.

Tomorrow is the 16th day function which officially marks the end of wedding celebrations. What happens tomorrow is something I will explain in detail. Ok, typing with all the chooda in the arms is damn difficult. Good that I did not try it before today!

Btw, tomorrow I am getting rid of the chooda. Don't get me wrong, I love them. Everyone loved them, in fact, just for the fact that the chooda was so different here and gives the perfect bride-sy look. But, they got so heavy and I think I got the smaller size so I could wear only half of my chooda. Will narrate the story later. In short, I am not able to do any regular works with them on my hands and worse still I can not reach my back to clean it :D

Week 3 Updates {Bridal Files}

Huh...wedding is so difficult to arrange! I can only imagine how dad and mom are struggling to make all ends meet. I am tired with only a half week of running around and they have been doing the same since navratre started and will be doing it for the next two months! Gosh, its so difficult to be a parent :D

Shopping
I had a girl's day out in Inorbit on Sunday and we spent almost half a day in just searching for nail paints and trying out the shades! Girls...huh. I finished all the miscellaneous shopping and ordered for the foundation, eye liner and mascara. Oh btw, I also got the FE gold serum. I have no idea whether it is worth it or not but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I went for shopping for the engagement rings, shoe shopping and saree shopping. All of them are stories in themselves but when told in brief, i got 3 pairs of golden sandals with bit of heels, probably 2 inch. Oh yeah, my balance is badddd!!

OMG...its so difficult to get a good saree. The only reason I had to go for saree shopping was because my in laws have to gift me a saree during the engagement ceremony and they asked me to buy whatever I want. Finally, I got a uppad saree (I do not know if it makes any sense but its one of the silk saree variety which is a rage now I suppose) in some color which is a variation of pink and red, may be dark mauve.

Also, the engagement rings have to be solely gold so neither have I found a ring which I love nor I got my size (I have very tiny fingers!). Sigh!

Invitation Cards
Finally, we found the telugu font printer somewhere in Munirka in Delhi. That being done, mom packed baskets with dry fruits and chocolates and biscuits. Ok, before you wonder why the hell am I talking about this, the tradition in South is a bit different. Though sweets with invitation cards is a given now in North, the tradition has not as of yet reached here. So, if you are a southie reading this, hope this is something different!

Blouses Stitching
I have to thank my stars and my bhabhi (SIL) for handing over such an amazing tailor. This lady comes to the house, takes the measurements, takes the clothes and things you want to get stitched (sometimes sarees as well) and goes and stitches and brings back for trying out to your house. Yes, everything available at your door step.

And, no issues with delay in stitch and such things or bad alterations either!! And, she does everything in one go - be it petticoats or fall stitching for sarees or getting the raw material for blouses. And, at reasonable prices too! So, yup, this is one lady I would recommend. Reach out to me for her contact number. Also, I do not have idea how well she does designer blouse stuff coz mine are all simple and she has done them really well.

Raw Material Shopping for Sarees
If you are of the kind who loves to mix and match the blouses with the sarees and love to explore, there is a shop called Indian Emporium in Panjagutta or Begumpet area right beside the famous Pulla Reddy sweet shop. Its THE place where you will get everything for a saree though I am not sure of the patch works and all. I mean only blouses of all colors and materials (crepe, tissue, georgette, raw silk and bla bla) and all kinds of petticoats as well.

Parlor
I got my back and hands bleached but honestly I can not find any difference. And, I got pedicure and manicure for the first time. It was fine but now that its a day or two old, my hands and feet are back to normal :| And, lets see how much radiance does gold facial provide?

These are the updates for now. By this Sunday, I shall be officially engaged! Don't know whether to be happy or sad :D Ciao in the next week with new updates :)

Week 2 Updates {Bridal Files}

I have to say that the week went by in a jiffy! And, I have hardly done anything.

Beauty
Oh btw, I got the first facial of my life. It was pearl from Shahnaz. Though, honestly, I am not sure if it really does anything for the skin. It feels more like a pampering than some actual result being obtained. I feel a complete body treatment would instead be better, donno though!

On a second thought, my skin was apparently glowing right after the facial and the day after as well as opposed to a supposed glow two days later. And, even now my skin is looking really good is what my friends say. Next time I am gonna try a black mask facial.

And, instead of getting the regular hair spa, I went for the scalp massage which I absolutely loved. And, I am also thinking of a body spa before the engagement day! Lets see what I would do.

Shopping
I am one lazy bride! I have not yet bothered to set foot even in the nearby market and get the regular things for toilet kits. I have decided to have 3 toilet kits at hand which include everything necessary from skin care and oral care to medicines - one for hotel before and for wedding, one after bidai when i go to in-laws place and one for honeymoon trip.

I have done some of the shopping online so that did save me a bit of trouble. And, I have segregated items which I can obtain online without much of a fuss and other things I have created yet another list and probably would wrap it up by today or tomorrow.

Clothes
Ok, I have to say that I have my mom to thank to get this headache off me. Since we have to wear only sarees, that is half of the trouble gone. Otherwise shopping for a lehenga and everything is a big deal. And, I have few sarees already in my stash so I am gonna wear a violet for the engagement. Of course the blouse stitching is still left.

Invitation Cards
Since not much of a time is left, my parents had bought the invitation cards (empty ones) from Sadar Bazar in Delhi. Well, apparently, its economical as well. And, then they found printers who have telugu lipi coz my wedding card would have telugu and english. It was a damn big headache to find a telugu card printer in Delhi, though!!

Pre and Post-wedding events
Ok, this was a huge headache. We did not know the dates and the muhurat for any of the events except the engagement and wedding. Well, yes, we do have certain other functions for which auspicious times are specified.

One of them is called "Pellikuturu" which is basically a pre-bridal practice session in which the bride gets dressed up a day or two before the wedding and she is showered blessings by everyone. Same thing happens with the groom.

And, I wouldn't even talk about post-wedding things because things are so uncertain and chaotic that I am yet at a loss as to when to take leaves :| There is grihapravesh (house warming when the bride enters the in-laws house) and then pagphere (bride goes back to her house first time after marriage after the house warming) and the reception from the in-laws.

Ok, a trivia for you all. I died of laughter when I came to know of this :D Did you know that the pandits specify a muhurat for the first night as well :D :D Gosh, how embarrassing is that!!

Honeymoon Planning
And, then comes this huge factor. Well, I have changed the honeymoon destinations over 5-6 times by now and we are yet not fixed on any. I have no idea where we are gonna go but tentatives are Dubai or Hongkong. Well, Dubai is where we both haven't gone and Hongkong has Disneyland!! What do you say?

Those were the updates for now. Things will pick up heat by next week so a lot of updates gonna come next time!!

Week 1 Updates {Bridal Files}

So, the countdown has already begun. Its like around 6 weeks to the wedding so I thought I would do a weekly update post. Hell lot of things to do and run about but my history is even worse. I am person to whom the choice of clothes or beauty treatments does not really come on its own. Yeah, the irony seeing that I run an almost beauty blog :D :D Anyways so let me just put down what all happened in the first week.

And, btw, since it is the shradh time, we have not yet started shopping. All that would probably take place in the second and third week of October and the rest remaining would be in November. The jewelery and some of the sarees are ready so I have to just get the blouses stitched. So, what all I have started is facials and a bit of others.

Body Treatments
I did ask for the bridal package but it had a lot of things which I was not interested in and I do like to keep a choice in getting different treatments from different places so I declined to take that. My choice of treatments is pretty limited. And, since I have only 3 weeks to the engagement, I do have to cram in a lot of things right now!

So, last Sunday, I got a cleanup for the first time in my life. Earlier, my trysts with parlors used to end with waxing and this all is kinda baffling. When I got the cleanup for the first time, I was literally hoping my face to glow like some one has placed a bulb under it. But, of course, nothing close happened. Btw, they have all kinds of cleanups (not facials) - gold, pearl, diamond??? Seriously? Its damn confusing for first timers!

My advise if you are a first timer - take the basic one and see how the services are and how it reacts on your skin. Also, get things planned quite in advance so that you have time to gauge the reactions on your skin and treat it accordingly. Don't land up in the parlor at the nick of time and get a treatment for the first time in your life. I got the Shahnaz treatment which hardly lasted for 15 minutes. I felt it was a waste of money but everyone is saying that face cleanups only show difference when you get them done in regular intervals.

Anyways, since I have to get a facial trial way before my wedding, I am planning to get the facial this weekend so that there is 15 days of time minimum in between two of them, the second being right before engagement. Aah...also I got facial threading done and my face is looking so clean now :D And, I got my eyebrows also done, finally!! Nah, I really did not find any change in my face. Its just like it was :|

Hair Treatment
I got a hair deep conditioning treatment with L'Oreal mythic range but honestly I did not like it so I am thinking of going to the nearby spa for hair and scalp massages. I am hoping that it would turn out well. Fingers crossed!

Weight Loss
Huh...this is the most difficult part. I am trying to skip almost everyday but of course you are tired or its too late or something or other excuse is always there. So, I am finding out what can I do.

I was thinking of swimming but chlorine is something I am not willing to risk right now and I do feel kinda lazy to go and swim as well. So, probably I will stick to skipping for now and get a yoga mat for regular surya namaskars.

Shopping
So, since it is shradh time, I can really not do any major shopping but mom said you can start with buying everyday things. I wanted to go to the market but of course it being me, I lazed around all day on 2nd October. But, I do have a tentative list of things I need.

I have also zeroed down on what foundation I would be buying. The shade is something I will go and check and then decide. I need a good eye liner and mascara which will stay long and have good pigmentation and also does not smudge. Can you suggest me some? Some of my friends were suggesting Maybelline. I am guessing the Colossal range.

Do drop in suggestions on mascara and eyeliner! And, will bring the week 2 updates soon enough.
