It is no surprise then that anti-ageing advice ranks high on the Pai enquiry list – but when is the best age to start using anti-ageing products?
There’s no definitive answer to this. The fact is that once a wrinkle appears, it is incredibly hard to get rid of without surgical help (something that us natural beauties would consider a little extreme!)
But while the cosmetic powerbrands would have you believe that pentapeptides and other science-fictive ingredients are the answer, the reality is much simpler.
As you age your skin naturally produces less oil, particularly around the telling eye area, and so skin becomes drier and more prone to wrinkles and creases.
The key is in keeping your skin hydrated, nourished and conditioned as this process begins to occur.
Here are my top-tips for keeping those wrinkles at bay.
P – Prevention. As boring as it sounds preventing the natural dehydration process is the most-effective way to avoid those dreaded lines. Remember, for skin hydration, moisturising creams are better than balms – Creams vs. Balms blog.
A – Avoid foam! As well as topping up the skin’s natural moisture levels we need to ensure we’re not stripping away the oils that are already there. Foaming face washes contain chemical detergents which are particularly bad for this. To be on the safe side always make sure you’re using a detergent-free cleanser such as Pai’s Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser.
I – Inside out. Skin needs to be conditioned from the inside out. Drinking lots of water is essential for this, while oily fish, nuts and flaxseed oil provide the supplementary Omega 3 & 6 we need to keep skin soft and supple.
